African Languages

Africa. What comes to mind? Maybe it’s the origins of the human race or the sound of an African thumb piano. Maybe it’s the bold folk art. Maybe it’s the early years of slavery or the end of apartheid. 

There’s no better way to immerse yourself in African culture than to learn some of the continent’s native languages. Fortunately, there are a growing number of colleges that offer the opportunity to learn. While actual majors are rare, you can study African languages, literatures, and linguistics in other ways, whether as a minor, a concentration, or a series of courses.
