How I responded to discouragement

Messages from Peers:
You won't have enough money to put yourself through vet school and college. This dream job is just a phase and you will soon change your mind.
How I responded:
I stayed firm with what I wanted to do. Although this made me doubt myself many times, I was always very sure and passionate about what I wanted to do from a young age. I reminded myself of why I wanted to become a veterinarian in the first place: because I cared for animals and wanted to help those in need. I grew up in a family that was constantly rescuing and fostering animals but it always made me sad that I could never directly help the ones who were really sick.
