Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Parents:
You will never amount to anything, in six months you will be in Leavenworth. Where did you learn that, I never taught you that.
How I responded:
We all have a story of who we are and how we got to where we are. Just remember that your future is your own, and your choices dictate what happens tomorrow.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I went to school after 10 years in the Air Force, with a disabled wife, teenage daughter, and preschool son. My mother and father split when I was young and neither them nor my step-mother had any college education. All hurdles can be overcome.
