Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Everyone pushes you to go to college. There are too many people going to college and not enough going through vocational training.
How I responded:
I came from a low income family and college costs would have been completely on me. Vocational schooling costs are covered completely and can get you into the workforce sooner than later with no debt to pay back. I have friends and family that went to college to pursue degrees that when they graduated they could not find a job. Now they are stuck working at jobs that they did not go to school to do and are paying back school loans.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
We did not have everything we wanted growing up so that made me want to strive to better myself so that not only could I have the things I needed but also have some things that I wanted. To be able to give more to my family than what I had.
