Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Friends:
That field is too hard, maybe you should consider being a counselor, or a clerk.
How I responded:
Don't let others tell you that something you want to do in life is too hard for you to accomplish. Always strive to do your best, and keep focused on the goals you set for yourself in life. Never, ever say you can't do it. There will be times that you feel like giving up, and you feel like you aren't smart enough. But, know that you are good, and smart enough to overcome all obstacles set in your path. Just keep trying, keep learning, keep the faith. You can do it!
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Had to take out personal loans for school.
I was addicted to drugs for many years, and after almost losing my leg from a blood clot I made the decision to clean myself up and go back to work, and school.
I'm the first and only one of my siblings who has earned a degree.
Although my physical issues are very minor compared to others, my leg was saved, I've been clean for almost 9 years from drugs.
