My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
First, I had many summer jobs when I was in school, always working with customers.
2.
Then I started working at a call centre during my final school year in Romania.
3.
Then I moved to Budapest, Hungary, after I finished school and got a new job at a call centre.
4.
Then I worked hard and got promoted twice during the 2 years I worked for that company.
5.
Then I ran out of opportunities to grow, so I applied for a role at Microsoft and moved to the UK.
6.
Then I continued to learn about different technology types and changed jobs internally a few times.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
You will never succeed, you are not good enough, nobody else has managed to do this, what makes you think it will be you? You don't deserve such a good job. You have to work at least 10 more years to get that role. You are too young to get paid well.
How I responded:
I made a decision to be the only person responsible for the consequences of my life choices. I knew that if I would have done whatever anyone else was telling me to do or not to do, it would have been me who would have had to live that life, not anyone else. It's also important to enjoy the freedom of doing what you want with feedback you receive, sometimes it's constructive and well documented, other times it's the result of frustration or negativity. Choose your mentors and enjoy your life.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I grew up in a family with very limited financial possibilities, it meant I had to work quite early to support myself and my family as well. I used every working experience as a stepping stone for progress and learned so much while earning a living.
I was born in Romania and right after school I moved to Hungary, after 2 years I moved to the UK and now I am about to move to New York. Nobody else in my family or group of friends has done this before, it's not easy but it's worth it, enjoy it!
