My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
First, I pursued a degree in music.
2.
Then I realized that a degree in music would only allow me to teach.
3.
So I took a job in the computer industry to pay the bills.
4.
That's where I learned about business, about communication, and about how money works.
5.
Then I put my computer skills to use in creating music.
6.
And so I found a way to combine all my talents and skills together to do what I love.

Messages from Family:
You have to be practical.
How I responded:
There is some truth to this. You do have to pay the bills. But there's nothing saying that you can't pay the bills and pursue your passions at the same time. Being successful in music or art isn't always about being in the public eye. There are lots of jobs for talented people who work behind the scenes, and make a good living doing so. Search for the balance between creativity and practicality, and you're bound to find fulfillment of all your desires.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Almost every artist I know deals with self esteem issues on some level. The mistake some people make is believing that being loved by an audience will cure this. But really, you have to love yourself first. Then you can create art simply out of joy.
