How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Don't be so sensitive. Toughen up. I don't 'see' anything wrong with that child. You can't do that - it's done this way.
How I responded:
No one can tell you how YOU feel inside. My sensitivity aided me to be insightful, not only reflecting on my own decisions and feelings but to be more intuitive toward people around me. Helped me to pave my own road, connecting with many others along the way. I think it made me a more effective interventionist and while I listen to opinions of others, I have never based my decisions solely on what is obvious, but rather on a full range of subtleties.
