1.
Deciding to take a internship with my now current employer, which was 3,000 miles away from home.
2.
I worked with the mentally ill and homeless population in Washington, DC; exposed me to real life. :)
3.
Worked odd jobs during graduate school, saving all my pennies to take vacations with my besties.
4.
Hearing encouraging words from my deceased grandparents. These words motivated me to keep dreaming.
5.
Having support from family and friends is always important.
6.
Deciding to put myself first! Self-care!
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
You should stay closer to home." "Will that job provide financial stability?
How I responded:
In life you have to take risks, even if you fail, it's not the worst that could happen, just find another way! Take pride in you who are, where you come from, and be confident in your abilities! You can! Si, se puede!
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Being confident in my own abilities, trusting that my career plan will provide happiness and financial stability. Comparing myself to peers, and encouraging others through their successes while waiting on your own.
