My path in life has been direct

She grew up next to a river, surrounded by the forests.

Throughout all of her early work-whether she was studying biology, teaching middle school, or writing curriculum-she missed the outdoors.

As director of Mount Hermon, she's combined her interests in teaching and biology, and spends most of her time outdoors amongst the redwoods.

Learned a lot about taking risks from the experience of ziplining: sometimes, you have to just step off the platform and trust your line.
5.
Ziplining taught her to be present in the moment, and also to recognize every moment as having great potential.
6.
Says you can do anything once you get a good grasp on who you are as a person.

She says who she is isn't about what she does; she actually learned the most about herself while she was unemployed.
